New Manitou MT1440 Strengthens Telescopic Handler Training at Our HQ
Feb 13, 2026
At Sandy Arthur Training Services, we believe the quality of training depends heavily on the quality of the environment and equipment learners train on. That’s why we continue to invest in our facilities and fleet to ensure candidates receive realistic, job-ready training. Our latest investment is the addition of a Manitou MT1440 telescopic handler to our training fleet at our HQ.

This new machine strengthens our telescopic handler training provision and ensures learners are training on modern, industry-relevant equipment. Telehandlers are used daily across construction, agriculture and industrial sites throughout Northern Ireland, and demand for trained, competent operators continues to grow. By introducing the MT1440 into our training programme, we are giving candidates hands-on experience with machinery they are likely to encounter in real working environments.
Training on modern equipment plays a critical role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and site reality. Operators who train on outdated or unrepresentative machinery can find the transition into employment more challenging. The Manitou MT1440 allows learners to become familiar with contemporary controls, handling characteristics and operating features, helping build confidence before progressing into live site work.
From a safety perspective, modern plant provides a far more effective platform for teaching safe operation, load handling, stability awareness and site hazard management. These elements are central to competent telescopic handler operation and form a key part of our structured training programmes. Learners benefit from practising in realistic scenarios under the guidance of experienced instructors, ensuring safety standards are embedded from the outset.
The addition of the Manitou MT1440 also enhances the overall learning environment at our HQ. Our training is designed to support both new entrants to plant operation and experienced operators who require certification, refresher training or upskilling. Having access to modern equipment enables our instructors to deliver practical, relevant training that aligns with current industry expectations and employer requirements.
Across Northern Ireland, construction and plant operators continue to face skills shortages and increasing scrutiny around competence and safety standards. Employers are looking for operators who are not only qualified, but genuinely prepared for the realities of site work. By investing in equipment that reflects what is used across the sector, we are supporting the industry with better-prepared, more confident operators.
This latest addition reflects our ongoing commitment to improving the student experience and maintaining high standards across all our training provision. As equipment, regulations and industry expectations evolve, we will continue to invest to ensure our learners receive training that is practical, relevant and aligned with the real world.
