Shunter Training in Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK

This course is designed to train staff who need to move and manoeuvre Large Goods Vehicles (LGV’s) solely within a customer’s site. Courses are provided for both rigid and articulated vehicles. Sandy Arthur Training LGV Shunter courses are for novice or experienced operators; refresher and conversion courses are also available.

Please note that all delegates must first hold a full car licence. The course aims to improve existing driving standards and teach new driving techniques on the safe movement of vehicles within a Transport environment.

Driver Training in Northern Ireland

During the course you will be taught to:

  • Pick up and set down trailers
  • Laden and un-laden trailers
  • Manoeuvre around on site
  • Reverse
  • Vehicle pre-use inspection
  • Correct coupling and uncoupling of vehicle with a fifth wheel
  • Hand signals to be used for marshalling other drivers in confined spaces
  • Practice manoeuvring the vehicles onto loading bays or garagesey Benefits
